"Jesus died for sinners, not perfect people."
π‘Why This Matters
Many people avoid church, prayer, or reading scriptures because they think they need to be "good enough" first. They believe God is waiting for them to clean up their act before He'll accept them.
This truth shatters that barrier. Jesus came BECAUSE we're broken, not in spite of it. He seeks the sick, not the healthy. Understanding this is often the breakthrough that moves someone from guilt to grace, from distance to intimacy.
"The very fact that you feel unworthy is evidence you need Him. Your awareness of your sin is the door He walks through to save you."
π―Your Breakthrough Question
"I would be more like Christ if I..."
- π...stopped waiting until I'm "good enough" to pray
- π...believed Jesus wants me exactly as I am right now
- π...stopped hiding my struggles from God out of shame
- π...realized my brokenness is what qualifies me for His grace
- π...approached the sacrament knowing He died for messy people like me
πScriptural Foundation
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Notice: "while we were YET sinners" - not after we cleaned up. His love came first.
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
Paul, the great apostle, calls himself the "chief" of sinners. If he qualified, so do you.
"And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Jesus explicitly says He came for the sick. Your spiritual sickness is your qualification, not your disqualification.
"When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
The religious leaders criticized Jesus for eating with sinners. His response? "That's exactly why I'm here."
"Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah..."
NO flesh can dwell with God on their own merit. We ALL need the Messiah. You're not uniquely broken - you're universally human.
